So everyone is asking if it supports 16gb cards (yes) or where to get audio adapters (online). Here’s my quick list of essential G1/ADP1 accessories, with links to vendors that have them just for you. (And unlike some stores I could mention, not only do all of these things work with the G1 but none of the product names end in "for the G1!")

This just scratches the surface of what is available, even this soon after the device was released. If you have a favorite best (or worst!) accessory tell us about it in the comments.

Essential Prerequisites

Ok so not to state the obvious, but first you need a G1. Otherwise this list doesn’t make much sense. :)

Music and Arts

For starters, you really need a 16gb microsd card. That will let you lord it over all the 8/16gb iPhone users – with the right deal, your 16gb of music phone is cheaper than theirs. :) (There is also an 8 gig model that is somewhat faster and significantly cheaper.)

But now you need to get all that beautiful music out of the thing. That’s where a headphone adapter comes in. There are many out there but my favorite is this 3-way splitter for car use, and this right-angle adapter for home/work use. (That link is a 2-pack, but they are available individually as well.)

Protection

Now that you have it loaded with tunes, you need to keep it safe and pretty. My first recommendation is always going to be device cladding from Zagg. Seriously, its the best you can get and I use it on all my devices (and my wif’s.) If you aren’t worried about body scratches, just get the screen protector – otherwise, the whole device cladding will protect everything from the rigors of life in a pocket with keys. And personally, I can’t stand the slick-glass feel and fingerprint-ness of the default screen – the screen protector does an awesome job of providing texture and making everyday grease/dirt much less visible. (Celebrity endorsement #1 – ttuttle got the screen protector and it successfully masked the small scratches he had.)

But you still need a way to carry it and possibly some armor against tougher things than scratches. That’s where this guy comes in. Rubbery  protection for drops and bangs, keep your G1 looking – and working – like new.

There is a nice-looking clear hardcase out there as well, if you want to show off the brown/black or (gasp) white G1 and still keep it from the clutches of Old Man Gravity.

For the more svelte look, especially if you got an ADP1 instead of a G1, there is this little number. Bonus celebrity endorsement #2, its the one JesusFreke got. :) Just a basic sleeve.

Transportation

If belt-clips are more your speed, there are a couple out there that fit really well. (But clips tend to be a very individual thing, so I’ll start with the ones I have used and move on to the others..)  Until it finally died, I was using a Milante Milano from my old Nokia E90, which fit very well. (I can’t find a link for buying the case, I’ll do some more looking and update this. It really was my favorite case, too :( Magnetic and with a super-stiff belt clip.)

As a replacement I am using a blackberry case (but not the car charger  – see below) recommended at the T-mob retail store. I fail again though, as I just can’t find it online. I’ll update with proper links, I promise.

As far as cases and clips I don’t own, if neon pink isn’t your thing, there is more subtle red or carbon-fiber "style". And of course this much more basic leather belt clip.

If you are on the road a lot, you need a car charger. A great compliment to the splitter above is this basic unit. Its small, its cheap, and it works. (And with the splitter, you can still listen to your music and/or use a wired headset.) Avoid overly cheap usb chargers, as they can cause the music player to go all twitchy and crashy due to noise on the power line being interpreted as remote control input. In my experience, basic chargers without too many leds and fancy features work great. (Unlike the T-mob one bundled with the belt case.)
