New ADP1 Images Leaked!

Posted on January 14th, 2009 in Android Hacking by Disconnect  Tagged , , , , ,

Courtesy a nameless benefactor with magic fingers, an updated official ADP1 image has leaked.  Want it? (No, this is not cupcake. Don’t get all freakazoid on me when you don’t get an onscreen keyboard.)

You know we’ve got nothing but love, so here you go. :) Just use fastboot to flash it and off you go!

Nothing major in the changes (and of course no changelog was leaked), but I’ve noticed over the past few days that apps restart after crashing, most of the time, and overall it feels a little faster/more stable.

Enjoy! (Oh, and jbq.. this is the product tree I am talking about, that nobody else seems to believe in except me and @goog :) ..)

Cool. Flashed over my adp1 firmware – all worked fine except the misc partition:

    fastboot flash misc misc.img
    sending ‘misc’ (256 KB)… OKAY
writing ‘misc’… FAILED (remote: partition does not exist)

Any idea how to create it?

No idea actually. Nandbackup created it and it didn’t have my personal info, so I included it. :)

There is a new option in Settings->About Phone called System Updates – “Check for system updates”.

When I run it is says – “Your system is currently up to date.”

    Cool

This works like a charm :) I too did not have a misc partition to flash, and I skipped the splashes as I already have custom ones, but the rest went without a hitch.

    Thanks!

Adb remount fails with an operation not permitted message. Su still works, but it seems like “root” is gone in that regard. Any ideas?

ro.secure is set to 1 (so adb is not root). You can do the unpack/repack of boot.img to get ro.secure set to 0. (I just provided it as it was provided to me.)

is there any way to edit the default.prop file to set default.ro to 0 without messing with unpacking/repacking? I would guess not since it is not possibly as far as I know, to push the file to the / directory without having it set to 0 already.

Could you please tell me, why I should trust an unofficial firmware?

..why should i care if you trust it or not? If you don’t, don’t install it. Now wasn’t that easy?

    @Mark
Supposedly this is an “official” firmware, it just got leaked ahead of time. This firmware is not being distributed through an official channel sanctioned by Google so there is no telling whether it has been modified. As a developer I will wait until the firmware is released through an official channel which includes the proper documentation.

Yesterday I flashed my phone with the ADP1.1 image. This morning I got two system updates pushed to my phone.
This is the message of the second update

    A system update is available

Holiday phone update 2 of 2: This is a full system update. Your data and settings will be preserved

    Update now
    Update later

Updating took some time. But after rebooting Google Latitude and Voice search is available.

    About Phone shows:
    Baseband: 62.33.20.08H_1.22.14.11
    Kernel: 2.6.25-01845-g85d4f0d android-build@apa27 #27
    Build: holiday_devphone-userdebug 1.1 UNLOCKED 130444 test-keys

Where does this update came from?
