RC30 Downgrade! Merry Christmas everyone!
Merry Christmas rc30 owners! There is now a downgrade to rc29! (Updated: Better directions, and pics. And md5sum.) UK types, you’re in luck too!
All you need is the contents of this file (wgettable mirror) and BAM. RC29, with root.
For UK G1 owners, same procedure, different zip (wgettable mirror, mirror2).
MD5sum: (HappyNewYear.zip) = 4f0efb2037524a06bda26f286bba474d
MD5sum: (HappyNewYearUK.zip) = b253b71fad2ed0352bcb58c4966b9a25
Enjoy! (I’ll be updating this page throughout the day as we get more info.)
(Sometimes NBH flashing is tricky. For best results, reformat the sd card as fat32 and copy this as the only file on the sd card.)
1. Format the SD card to FAT32 mode
2. Copy image file DREAIMG.NBH to the SD card
3. Turn the device power off and insert SD card
4. Hold Camera button, and press Power button to entry Boot loader mode
5. Press Power button to start upgrade procedure
6. After finish, perform the soft reset to reboot. (Hold Talk/Menu/End)
(Directions adapted from hmepas, more info in the service manual, page 63-64.)
(Update, comments are re-enabled. Not sure how they got disabled, sorry about that..)

I own an unlocked G1 and am wondering if I’d have to re-activate the phone if I apply this downgrade. I also live in Bulgaria, so no T-Mobile (i.e. I can’t call them to enable my SIM for data connection so I can re-activate the phone). So, the question is – “is it safe”? :)

Sim unlock has nothing at all to do with system software.
