Non-US/UK G1 Owners, Your Day Is Here!
Its now possible to downgrade any G1 to a rootable version! All you need is a micro-sd card (Sandisk may not work) and a windows mobile device (sorry). From there, you can create a gold card and bam, downgrade goodness!
Easy way (with WM device):
- Format the card
- Download QMAT
- Start QMAT and select Hardware Forensics -> Generate HTC Goldcard
- Select Dream, Click “Get SD Card Serial…” and then “Save goldcard image to wince card“.
- Copy DREAIMG.NBH to the root of sd (UK – RC7 recommended for our DREA110)
- Put the card in G1, hold camera button and press power button
- Press power button to start flashing
Congratulations! You are now running a rootable UK G1! :)

Does making a “goldcard” (whatever that is) make any difference for those of us running a rooted RC33 build?
If not, I’m probably not going to care but it sounds cool though =D

Heh… read the text once again, and you’ll notice that it’s a way to downgrade DE/AU/whatever other non-uk EU phones there are… Anyway, good news for the germans… and others…

You should mention that gold card method is only possible with the old version 4.25 (wich is no longer available) or a registered version (20 USD). QMAT decided to “unfree” this method. :-(
