Specs!
And not the BS about “oh it has this much nand, and it is probably this speed, and the cpu part number might be NVRTELLU43″, but real, actual, honest-to-god hardware specs. (Some of) you want them. (All of you want them, you just don’t know it yet – these are the real deal, so we can do things like, oh, I dunno, USB-OTG and USB-HOST. Want tv out? Yeah, you know you do..)
Right. You read that correctly. We can now work out such niceties as usb host. Bootloader hacks. Maybe even some radio hacking.
Enough talk. You wanna know whats in it? Grab a copy and read!
Update 2:Due to the “cease and desist” letter I received from Qualcomm’s legal representation, I removed the documents that were posted here and deleted my copies. If you downloaded them earlier, they ask that you do the same to protect their confidential information (and help keep me out of further trouble.) Thanks.

Wait, so does that mean that we might eventually be able to mount USB devices ON the G1 and transfer files to and from them?

Thats the idear. Though the diea of OTG is host ANY usb device (assuming the voltage is high enough). So if it plugs into the usb port and especially if it is upnp, it should work well. Keyboards and whatnot.

Keyboards are probably the top priority, followed by other devices – like gamepads etc.
If we could get a decent NES emulator, it would be awesome to use a USB gamepad to play it. (That first part is a big IF)

Whoa, this is heavy…
Are you developping anything, and if, what?

I just reread and saw tv out. Wha?
I see it being mentioned on the system arch on page, and the example implementation later on, but wouldn’t this require custom hardware to function?

TV-out would require at the very least soldering stuff on your phone somewhere.
Its mostly a joke – but the chip supports it. A phone built for an open platform should leave plumbing in place for things like the TV-out that the community can implement later – HTC didn’t do that in this case.

Shesh, if we get host USB, then throw a USB VGA adaptor on there and it is no joke at all. I know Linux used to support at least one of them…
Could make a nice little mobile terminal.

Well thats what I was confused, since it seems to send all of the information through the usb port. I would be incredibly interested in a usb-to-vga port, combined with a keyboard, who needs an android netbook

Could be great to have a game pad.

WOW! I have been waiting for USB-Host mode to make a Consult cable software for Nissan OBDI/II cars with datalogging… so sweet! last I played in linux land, the FTDNI Serial-Usb drivers were working quite nicely in the stock kernel ;)

Actually TV out is standard on the chip and I bet all the pins are routed properly for it too the chipset is the same as the one on the HTC touch pros.

my benq s6 allows usb host, maybe the linux app from that could be ported to the g1?

Who is developing this? I so want a TV-OUT function on the G1.

Is anyone who got these willing to rapidshare them so more people can get ahold of ‘em? It’d be very appreciated by those of us who are late to the party.

don’t discuss it here. seriously, go away with that crap or you’ll get to talk to the lawyers too. there are plenty of other places to do that if you want.
thanks!
