Tmobile USA Cupcake URL

Posted on May 23rd, 2009 in Android Misc by Disconnect  Tagged , , , , , ,

You begged, pleaded and cried for it.

Well.. here you go! We’ve got it! (All hail to Zinx!)

Just rename it to update.zip and flash as usual.

Update: I also have a working (unofficial) Jesusfreke image to go with it. (Thanks to pawbie for testing!)

T-mobile USA Cupcake Update v1.0 (3890 downloads)
Update.zip for Cupcake on Tmobile USA

OK su should work now (and ‘adb shell’ runs as root anyway.) Lemme know if you have issues. (Good catch, talking to JF turned it up in his test image also.)

UNOFFICIAL Jf 1.5 Tmobile-USA Image v2 (947 downloads)
It took a bit of hacking but I have an (unofficial) Jesusfreke Tmobile-USA image. Enjoy! * Updated: Superuser should work now (su)

Its based off the UK version, with a couple of changes to make it fit on the partition (without losing anything.)

Tried the UNOFFICIAL JF image but there is no root access – true?

Should have superuser, same as the stock ones. Just took his Uk build env, altered it a bit to fit on the space available (USA image is -much- larger) and ran it. Certainly ‘adb shell’ should be root? (Unfortunately my phone isn’t in shape to test :( ..)

su in terminal or any “sudo” app – no go

in adb I have root access..

    why not both?

Ah. Talking to JF its not my fault :) his (testing) image has the same issue – UID problems with Superuser. He’s rebuilding it now.

Crap. Looking into it. (Update: For now, you can use adb to create an insecure ’su’:
    cd /system/bin
    cp sh su
    chmod 4755 su

That’ll give you su for now, ‘adp’ style (no prompts, root only). He says he’ll probably have all 3 versions out tomorrow, if I get the Superuser fix hacked out first I’ll update this; otherwise just wait.

OK I’m not gonna argue with superuser at this point – JF says he’s basically up to that point now, and I don’t feel like duplicating -that- much effort. :) So enjoy (with the workaround above) and his official ver should be out soon.
(Update: He’s got superuser working again, and has test versions of all 3 images ready. Should see a release shortly.)

I’ve got some trouble upgrading to your unofficial JF release…
After upgrading the Android logo just keeps on flashing, left it over an hour to work, but nothing happened. Tried pulling the battery, no succes.

Finally tried downgrading to JFv1.5 ADP, but this one keeps showing the Android logo all over again :| For 20 mins now… Any thoughts?
