CDMA Google-Experience Phone On The Way!

Putting together some pieces off the mailing lists, it looks like someone is working on a CDMA “Google-experience” phone. I’ve got your likely specs below. No word on carrier, no blurrycam pics, no FCC filings. Just the hints.

Blurrycam PicSo, what do we suspect? (And no, I’m not going to link to specific posts. I have them, but I’d rather not chase vendors back into hiding or get engineers fired…)

  • “Google Experience”: Gmail, contact/calendar sync, Market.
  • 320×240 (QVGA) display
  • GPS (with enhanced Google maps app?)
  • Video streaming (hmm.. doesn’t Sprint have a weird cell-tv service?) 3gp, maybe AMR and WMV
  • Ambient Light Sensor
  • Camera (no idea on specs, video, flashlight, etc)
  • Keyboard with backlight – maybe T9 flip phone?

There were some other tidbits as well (carrier customized greeting messages and such) but the more I look at this, the more I think it just might be two separate phones. (Google experience means market, and market means HVGA apps. “Here’s our new phone, it doesn’t run any apps!”)

What do you think?

It probably *IS* a motorola. Read the article, it clearly states “no blurrycam pics”, so that is definitely NOT IT.
