You begged, pleaded and cried for it.

Well.. here you go! We’ve got it! (All hail to Zinx!)

Just rename it to update.zip and flash as usual.

Update: I also have a working (unofficial) Jesusfreke image to go with it. (Thanks to pawbie for testing!)

The original method of getting a pre-cupcake tree only worked until the second cupcake merge was done. But now, thanks to JesusFreke, it is again possible to get the pre-cupcake tree.

If you want to build anything for an existing image, you need to get back to the pre-cupcake merge. And irc user haakjes figured out how :)

Not much is happening due to the holidays, but here are some quick updates on Android Market, Lenovo and cupcake/master/rc31ish.

Quickie: Google Has a Dreamy Holiday

Posted on December 20th, 2008 in Android Misc by Disconnect  Tagged , ,

From Android-Discuss:

The holiday bonus is a Google tradition – it’s a great way to thank everyone for their hard work. In the past, we’ve done this in cash. This year, we’ve decided to give Googlers a different kind of present – a Dream phone (this is the same device T-Mobile markets as the G1). We’re really excited about getting the phone to more Googlers in more countries, and also seeing all the cool new things you do with it.
Shipping these special edition phones in such a short time frame (they were designed especially for Googlers with a ‘droid’ on the back) and making sure they would work anywhere in the world was no small feat. So a big thank you to the Android and Legal teams for making this happen (Kent is now an expert on customs law globally). While these phones do not have SIM cards, they are unlocked so they can be used with the network provider of your choice. Plus – thanks to more fancy footwork from the Android team – they’ll work immediately as WiFi devices!

Sounds great! Any googs want to comment?

Essential G1/ADP1 Accessories

So everyone is asking if it supports 16gb cards (yes) or where to get audio adapters (online). Here’s my quick list of essential G1/ADP1 accessories, with links to vendors that have them just for you. (And unlike some stores I could mention, not only do all of these things work with the G1 but none of the product names end in "for the G1!")

ADP1 Phones Arriving

Posted on December 11th, 2008 in Android Misc by Disconnect  Tagged , , , ,

So the first actual dev phones are starting to arrive, and we’ve got a comparison article coming up if you want to know what you actually get for your $300 shipping fee. But for now, it is confirmed that the bootloader is, at first glance, the same (same logo, same version information) as the one we announced earlier. There are some differences though (in addition to the patches applied to our version) and we’ll be publishing an article later tonight with more details.
